As families find themselves spending more time at home due to COVID-19, distinctions around routines of work, learning and play have become increasingly blurred and tricky to navigate.
To empower families as they readjust to new at-home routines, Australian childcare provider Montessori Academy has launched a free learning portal: Montessori Academy @ Home. The online hub strives to bridge the connection between Montessori early learning in the classroom and at home.
Montessori learning for infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers is grounded in concrete, real-world experiences. To meet this need, the @ Home portal provides parents with resources to recreate hands-on Montessori learning experiences using everyday household items.
“There are so many found objects within your home that can be utilised to create activities to support a child’s learning.”
– Zac Zacchar, Montessori Trainer at Montessori Academy.
The online hub includes an abundance of free parent resources including detailed guides on how to establish a new at-home routine and how to work from home with children, as well as printable worksheets, at-home Montessori activities and video tutorials.
‘Children crave predictability. Establishing a flow for the day that is known, allows children to relax and transition more readily throughout their day.”
– Zac Zacchar, Montessori Trainer at Montessori Academy.
