Centre-Based Care
A team of qualified educators care for children usually from 6 weeks of age up until they are ready to start school. Care is offered in a space that was built or designed for child care purposes, usually offering different rooms for the various age groups. Outdoor play areas offer children access to equipment, toys and facilities such as arts and crafts.
These centres can be run by individuals, private companies, non-profit organisations, employers, councils or community groups. Hours of operation tend to be from early morning until early evening, with parents given the opportunity to drop off and pick up at a time that suits their needs.
