About YMCA Gungahlin Early Learning Centre
As advocates for children’s rights, we strongly believe children have the right to be treated with dignity and respect and to have their voices heard. We allow children to ask their own questions and guide their own learning through exploration and discovery, generating many open ended possibilities.
We as educators, see ourselves as co-researchers and partners in learning alongside the children, which is derived from the Reggio Emilia values and principles. With this intent we believe children have the right to receive an educational curriculum dedicated to early childhood learning based on principles, practices and learning outcomes. We acknowledge the Early Years Learning Framework, and embed a pedagogy of play based learning throughout our curriculums and daily practice.

Staff here only care about their pay. No one knows what’s happening and literally no one cares. Two things, Received a call from Gungahlin centre saying the classes have now resumed after COVID and was told that direct debit will start. Happy went to take my daughter and son for class. My daughter is in Tuna level. But the deep pool is still closed. More they wanted us kids to play not the lesson but same time take money from parents to pay themselves. Shower was closed and when asked they said because of COVID. SERIOUSLY, when everyone swimming inside a pool is considered safe but shower is not considered safe. Secondly, my son is 4 year old. Went to tadpole class for 430pm as told. No. name in list. Swim teacher advised. Went to reception and they said oh he is in octopus. Then went to octopus class again no name in there. What the magic happened in a week that he was in next class. As a parent I am there everyday. No one even bothered to tell us. I have now cancelled. Looking for other one now.

I can’t say enough good things about this centre 😊 the administrators and educators are all very well trained and respectful and have created a safe and creative space. My child takes a very long time to warm to new places and people and although it took her a couple of weeks to warm to it - I felt very comfortable that she was receiving the compassion, patience and individual care that she needed. She has developed confidence through the relationships built with the educators and truly enjoys going to daycare 😊 as a working mum, there is nothing more comforting than knowing my child is safe and happy!
