The Avenue Children’s Centre and Kindergarten is a small 40-place, not-for-profit, community-based centre located in a quiet, tree-lined street in Balaclava. The centre has been in operation since 1975. It is situated in a converted heritage listed building owned by the City of Port Phillip and is run by a committee of volunteer parents. These parents dedicate their time and energy into the decision making and running of The Avenue. Parking is no problem and we are just a stone’s throw from Balaclava train station, a bus stop on Hotham St and trams on nearby Carlisle Street.

The best Childcare and Kindergarten centre ever!! The Staff and Director there have helped my Family so much and have always gone above and beyond for us 💜 My boys were very well supported there too ! The centre feels very home-like and the staff are so caring and kind ! I appreciate everything that they have done for my 2 boys and I would recommend this centre to anyone 😊

Highly recommend The Avenue. We moved our kids here from another (big chain) centre and have been so impressed with the quality of care. The educators really care about the children, organise great activities (eg musicians, bush kinder, cultural celebrations) and are excellent communicators. It's such a lovely place
