The Avenue Children’s Centre and Kindergarten is a small 40-place, not-for-profit, community-based centre located in a quiet, tree-lined street in Balaclava. The centre has been in operation since 1975. It is situated in a converted heritage listed building owned by the City of Port Phillip and is run by a committee of volunteer parents. These parents dedicate their time and energy into the decision making and running of The Avenue. Parking is no problem and we are just a stone’s throw from Balaclava train station, a bus stop on Hotham St and trams on nearby Carlisle Street.
Committed to quality childcare for more than 35 years, The Avenue is a ‘home away from home’ – a safe and nurturing environment aimed at meeting the needs of you and your child.

I wanted to say a huge thank you to the Robins room teachers who have put in such a huge effort to engage our child (toddler) in doing some beautiful art & craft activities & sending them back home for gifts, particularly for fathers & Mother’s & special persons day & Easter, as well as as our child’s first paintings. It was honestly such a special Mother’s Day gift that you supported our child to make. It’s up on our mantelpiece. My partner also loved his Father’s Day gift he received. We also enjoyed having Kevin the kangaroo stay with us & adding to the scrapbook. Please send our gratitude for the robins team for making us feel so special & part of the community. Please also thank them for taking such great care of our child. It helps us to know they’re in good hands when we drop off. Knowing they will also be loving eating 4+ bowls of Miguel’s delicious & healthy homemade cuisine also helps us to to know they’re being well cared for.
