About SDN Woolloomooloo Long Day Care and Preschool

SDN Woolloomooloo Children’s Education and Care Centre, the oldest SDN centre, opened in 1905 but has been in its current location since 1920. It is located in a quiet corner of Woolloomooloo and is licensed for 90 children, with six separate rooms providing intimate spaces to learn and grow. The centre’s Educators are four university trained Early Childhood Teachers, four TAFE qualified diploma staff and 10 experienced Child Care Workers. Five of these Educators are currently advancing their qualifications externally through TAFE or university. Our Educators use a variety of languages – including German, Spanish, Chinese and Bengali – with the children on a daily basis.

We are a community based centre, so families are often involved in various projects throughout the year. Gardening and environmental sustainability are a central focus of our curriculum. This is particularly important as we are located in the centre of the city. Another important aspect of the curriculum at SDN Woolloomooloo is the emphasis on integrating our early learning centre with the wider community. We believe children should be active participants in their community, and plan many excursions based on the children’s current interests. We have taken the children to visit the Art Gallery of NSW, the local library, the Royal Botanic Gardens, a yum cha restaurant and local cafes for babychinos!

Preschool Fee Relief

The NSW Government is providing up to $2110 in fee relief for preschool aged children who are enrolled in the preschool program at SDN Children’s Services from 2023. If your child will be 4 on or before 31 July 2023, this additional funding could mean up to $40 a week in fee relief to your family, on top of the existing child care subsidy.

About SDN Children's Services

We are a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing quality early childhood education, care, children's therapies and family support since 1905.

Our purpose is to promote and enhance children’s wellbeing, learning and development in inclusive environments; and our vision is for an equitable world where all children thrive.

At SDN, your child is supported by our village.

The SDN village is a caring, inclusive, and supportive community, where your child is the centre of everything we do. We give them the freedom to invent, create, explore, and express their true selves, every day. A place where they can use their voices. And when they do, we listen.

We see the whole child and know that children thrive when we support them to grow caring hearts, healthy bodies, and curious minds.
