My child attended this daycare for one day, and by the end of that day, he had to be rushed to the hospital in an ambulance due to a severe anaphylactic reaction caused by the consumption of a known allergen: dairy. Within 20 minutes of being served afternoon tea (Weetbix slice), my child began experiencing symptoms of anaphylaxis. This is particularly alarming because his only allergy is to dairy, and he will only react in this way if dairy is ingested; something staff were clearly informed of in a medical action plan. I would like to also mention, he has been following a medically supervised dairy ladder challenge and regularly consumes baked dairy without issue. Despite the severity of the situation, the daycare has refused to take accountability. Staff and management have insisted that my child was not given any food containing dairy; something I do not believe to be true given the nature and timing of his reaction. There has been no ownership, no explanation, and no transparency, even after such a traumatic incident. This was a completely avoidable emergency, one that could have been fatal. I am devastated and deeply concerned about the welfare of children in the care of this center. This incident is now being investigated by the governing body. If your child has any medical needs, especially food allergies, I strongly encourage you to seek alternative care.
