Curriculum

At Riverstone Preschool children will learn through;

play based learning which allows children to actively engage with others and explore their environment

intentional teaching moments

Educators actively reflecting on the program and children's learning using the Early Years Learning Framework – ‘Belonging, Being and Becoming'

a learning environment which reflects a variety of key learning areas and development, including; literacy, numeracy, inquiry, creative arts, social/emotional development and wellbeing

a program which is responsive to the individualised needs of children

adopting sustainable practices which are embedded throughout our program and daily practice.

Educators

As Educators we;

foster a team approach where all Educators are equally respected and valued

maintain high expectations for ourselves and for children

initiate and maintain trusting and nurturing relationships with all stakeholders to create a secure foundation for learning

are co-learners who value the input of children, families and our community

Children

We believe children;

are lifelong learners

should enjoy their time at Preschool by creating a supportive and safe environment

should be valued as individuals within their context and encouraged to reach their full potential in accordance with their individual ability

should have a sense of Belonging, Be allowed to express their individuality and encouraged to explore who they are Becoming

are successful learners when they are confident and resourceful and allowed to actively construct their own learning.

Families

We believe families;

are the most influential people to their child

should build collaborative partnerships with Educators, which are committed to open and constructive communication

should influence daily practice and the learning outcomes of their child

provide nutritional foods and water to sustain their child so they can engage in learning

Community

At Riverstone Preschool we;

form strong and supportive relationships with families and our community

acknowledge and value the traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders of our community

honour the histories, cultures, languages, traditions and lifestyle choices of our community

constantly reflect on how our respect for diversity can be celebrated within our setting

network with outside agencies to provide a multidisciplinary approach to meeting the needs of children and family.
