Piccolo Early Learning Centre

This is the childcare you send your kid to if you never wanted to send your kid to childcare.

We toured a few centres, independents and chains, and always there were distant staff, kids going ballistic, the smell of rice and boiled chicken in the air...

Everywhere was neat and tidy but piccolo wasn't just surface presentation, the rooms had activities, structure, and educational guidelines. The educators were actively engaged with the children in play or in teaching, and we had multiple pictures and reports a day and regular developmental updates. The place genuinely cares about the kids and families and the staff seemed happy.

I'll note that when we started the team was larger, they had I believe two educational leads and an admin who eventually went on to further education. Did not seem to have any negative impact on the quality of education however, in our last year all the staff were either diploma or bachelor qualified. Staff turnover in our three years was very low as well so that's a good sign. Were it not for extenuating circumstances we'd have been keeping our son there for kindy as well.
