It’s hard to believe that we now have a 5 year old, about to head off to school in a matter of months. He’s been attending the PA Hospital Early Education Centre for 3 days a week since he was 11 months old, and his brother, now 2, has also been attending since the same age. Our 5 year old is so settled there now, he says he wishes he could go every day! How spoilt we have been to have 4 meals a day provided, by a quality catering company, we honestly don’t know how we will ever make school lunches which even come close!! The staff were so caring when our youngest first started, a little over a year ago, they persisted so patiently to find the best bottle, and settling techniques, and always called if they couldn’t settle him, so he wouldn’t get too distressed, which meant a lot. They really took the time to find the methods that best worked for him, which gave us such piece of mind, when going through the emotional first few weeks of your baby starting childcare, we really couldn’t have asked for more sensitive caregiving for that transition period. Then there’s the 2 centre chickens who the boys so love (as do we)! The amazing gardens and composting process which the kids take pride to participate in, it really teaches them about where food comes from, and how to make use of scraps. Each day has a natural rhythm and routine with indoor and outdoor activities (even bush kindy!), meals (especially in the school readiness room where all the kids use proper adult plates and cutlery!), and balance between stimulating activities with rest periods. And how lucky we are to have had such committed, and long term staff, to turn up every day, and do this work, in our opinion takes a truly special type of person, we are so grateful to have had such a wonderful long day care experience to prepare our son for school. The Director and staff provide excellent care of children. They are friendly and approachable and really care about the children in their care. This is the best child care centre I have ever been involved with. No wonder the waiting list for this centre is so long!
