Orana is an independent, co-educational and non-denominational school set in 13 hectares of unique, natural landscape in Weston, ACT, Australia. It was founded in 1981 and has developed in size and reputation with 640 students currently enrolled from Pre-school to Year 12.
As well as providing a challenging and stimulating environment for the study of a complete range of subjects from pre-Kindergarten to Year 12, Orana strives to nourish the intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual development of its students.
Orana’s educational philosophy is inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner, the Austrian-born scientist, philosopher, artist, and educator and focuses on the growth and development of the whole child. The first Steiner school was established in Stuttgart, Germany in 1919. Now there are over 800 Steiner schools across Europe, Great Britain, the USA, Australasia and beyond. There are over 40 Steiner schools in Australia alone. In addition there is an increasing number of state schools which have incorporated Steiner classes and streams into their mainstream programs to meet the demand from parents.
