BEWARE*** Serious safety concerns and poor management A deeply concerning and disappointing experience. We ultimately withdrew our children after repeated and unresolved safety concerns. I raised clear and ongoing concerns within the room, which were not adequately addressed and resulted in my child being injured on more than one occasion. I personally witnessed multiple incidents that were handled inappropriately. While there are some genuinely kind and caring educators, the issues at this centre clearly stem from poor management. Staff appeared unsupported, and I observed an imbalance in care, including situations where staff members children were treated differently to others. I also witnessed unprofessional conduct from the ESM (Emilia Borrillo) who appeared unable to separate her role as a parent from her responsibilities as centre manager, particularly when her own child was involved in incidents. These concerns were formally raised and initially dismissed. Only after I stated my intention to lodge a formal complaint with the Education Standards Board SA were my concerns taken seriously. At that point, fault was acknowledged by the service, including acknowledgement of wrongdoing by the ESM, and I was advised that repercussions and corrective measures would be implemented. I was also told an additional support person would be placed in the room, despite previously being told this was “not possible” by the ESM. Following this escalation, the centre introduced visible ‘child safety’ community posts such as phone free classrooms and an online child safety information session for parents. These actions occurred only after the complaint was raised. However, none of the promised measures to address the actual safety concerns within the room were implemented, and the core issues remained unresolved. Due to the seriousness of the situation, I did not feel comfortable sending my children back and instead monitored whether changes were occurring through other families. More than six weeks passed with no improvements so we made the decision to withdraw our enrolment. Trust was completely lost. I have since spoken with other families who shared similar experiences, which reinforced our decision. Based on our experience, I strongly urge parents to consider other centres.
