We love Jacaranda. My daughter loves most of the staff, especially Miss Sara and Miss Cris, they are more than accomodating and patient with her. They even take the time to reassure you by message that your child is okay if they have had a tough start to the morning which to me is amazing and gives you the peace of mind. Couldn’t recommend them enough. 📚 ☀️ My daughter has been here since nursery and is now in junior kindy. Time flys! 😭

Jacaranda got power in the late Monday evening due to the Cyclone, they need to clean and reorder food, so parents need to prepare the lunch box for Wednesday. As the director, when she informed us to bring the lunch box, simply as follows “ …Please bring your child’s lunch box on Wednesday. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation” , she did not mention anything about foods allergies in lunch box which children would bring to Jacaranda. Especially, there is a child may have egg allergies in my daughter’s room, I never know there is someone with egg allergies. Since my daughter came to the new room this year, no educator in this room mentioned that. I told the leader educator that I prepared a birthday cake for Wednesday, she asked me to check the ingredients, I cannot bring it with nuts. Then, I told her it contains nuts and also egg, she said egg was also not allowed in the food. That’s okey, I did not bring it to Jacaranda. The director said “ We kindly ask all parents to share the ingredients list of any food they plan to bring so we can ensure it is safe for all children.“ If so, why did not the director say anything about the food which she asked us to bring for Wednesday, especially reminded parents food allergy such as nuts free, there is a child may have egg allergy in my daughter’s room. Also no educators working in my daughter’s room say something about the lunch box when we brought into the room. I had saw a child of this room with different snacks entered the morning yard one day and another day a week. Some children were interested in the child’s food, came to watch her opening the snack bag and eating, walked following her. The director replied my review following that what I said was totally wrong (she wrote false before) not right. I am so scared of this Director. She meant that I did not post the full copy of her lunch box notification, I did not quoted her explanation about why parents need to bring lunch box。I wrote above: her message was simple, it is obvious that she did not mention anything about food allergies when she informed us to bring lunch box, she also replied there was a notice board on the gate “no nuts” , they have measures to deal with egg allergies (she changed this sentence to a new edition now),,,,, but Should not the director remind the parents avoid nuts in the lunch box, also let the parents of children in my daughter’s room know that a kid may have egg allergy?
Response from the owner11 days agoHi Susan, What you have written in this review are totally false and incorrect. All our educators strictly adhere to the policies and procedures of our centre. We inform families at enrolment that we are a nut-free centre, and this information is displayed on the entrance door and within the premises . Regarding egg allergies, we exercise caution as they can cause anaphylaxis. Our approach depends on whether there are children enrolled with such allergies. That is why we require families to send the ingredients to us to ensure food safety. Due to the cyclone, we experienced a power outage that was restored at 11:30 PM on Monday night. We contacted staff at 11:30 PM to come to our centre on Tuesday to clean up all debris and check the environment so that we can open on Wednesday. Our chef was still recovering from the surgery and came on Wednesday to clean up the fridge and throw all the food to ensure our children's food safety. We are following all protocols and back to open on Wednesday. Unfortunately, due to limited supplies, Woolworths and Coles were unable to deliver food on Wednesday. I did a post to families and the original post about the lunch box wass: Our chef will organise the kitchen and clean up the fridge and freezer, so we cannot provide meals on Wednesday at this moment. Please bring your child’s lunch box on Wednesday. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation." So I did the explanation about the lunchbox. It was not as simple as what you mentioned in the review. In order to provide meals for children on Thursday, our 2IC went to Coles in person and carried all food materials to the centre on Wednesday. We have responded to the Cyclone so efficiently and effectively, but some situations are really beyond our control. We took all necessary steps to ensure the safety of children and staff, which remains our highest priority and responsibility. You have been other centres nearby and finally chose our centre. best, Centre Director
