About Gumnut Gardens Early Learning and Long Day Care Centre

Welcome to Gumnut Gardens, a privately owned early childhood centre located near the Paddington Gates of Centennial Park. Set in a charming 1920s home, our centre offers a calm, welcoming, and nurturing environment for children to grow and thrive.

Sustainability is a core part of our philosophy, and we embed eco-conscious practices into our daily routines and learning experiences. We cultivate respect—for each other, for our resources, for the natural world, and for the Traditional Custodians of this land, the Indigenous peoples of Australia.

We are proud to have a qualified chef who prepares fresh, nutritious meals on site each day, filling the air with the comforting aromas of home-cooked food.

Our centre features a leafy outdoor environment where children can explore, play, and help grow their own food. A majestic ancient tree in our garden houses a large treehouse, sparking imagination and adventure. We’re currently expanding our programme to include regular excursions into the local community, further connecting children to the world around them.

Our team of passionate educators—including experienced Early Childhood Teachers—believe children learn best through play. Guided by curiosity and supported through thoughtful interactions, children are encouraged to wonder, explore, and grow. We draw inspiration from Reggio Emilia, Bush School philosophies, and Rudolf Steiner’s holistic approach, weaving these into our evolving educational vision.

Children’s learning is captured through stories, observations, photos, and daily updates, shared with families via Storypark—our secure, web-based platform.

At Gumnut Gardens, we are more than a centre—we are a close-knit, joyful community. We would love to welcome you and your child into our Gumnut family.

Unfair Treatment by New Owner of gumnutgardens Paul of gumnut gardens, please don't plug your ears while stealing a bell. We are the former owners of Five Dock daycare. The new owner is refusing to let us collect our belongings, telling us we must: - Wait outside while they decide what to throw away, - Only take what they consider "useless." This is unacceptable– those items are ours, including: - Tools & equipment we paid for - Children’s records (confidential files) - Staff documents We’ve tried resolving this politely, but they won’t cooperate. Avoid this business if you value fairness. The issues you mentioned (bonds, staff payments, etc.) happened because the landlord Bruno illegally stole our bank guarantee and suddenly locked us out, leaving us with no funds to operate properly. This has nothing to do with you, yet you’re using it as an excuse to withhold our belongings unlawfully. As an experienced childcare operator, you should know better than to: 1. Steal another daycare’s property (including confidential files and equipment). 2. Refuse rightful owners access to their own items. 3. Break the law just because Bruno did. A warning for you: - Karma exists. Taking what isn’t yours brings bad energy—this is a terrible start for your business. - Parents will notice. If you act dishonestly now, how can they trust you with their children? Do the right thing: - Return our belongings immediately. - Stop hiding behind Bruno’s crimes. Or keep going—and see how long your business lasts, because Bruno is a character of bad luck. My personal plants, which I had nurtured for decades, were taken away from me without permission. These were my own private belongings, not part of any company property. Losing them feels like being robbed of years of care and memories.

It appears your comments may be intended for a separate entity known as Sunshine Early Learning Centre Five Dock. Our centre has no affiliation with that organisation. If you search Sunshine Early Learning Centre Five Dock, you’ll find publicly available reports detailing serious concerns raised by families, staff, and landlords. These include allegations of financial misconduct and breaches of trust. Sunshine even attempted to file for company dissolution in order to avoid paying creditors—many of whom were hardworking families, businesses, and staff. Unfortunately, we have inherited the reputational damage caused by Sunshine’s actions at our Five Dock centre. This has led to instances of mistaken identity, where concerns such as failure to return bonds and personal belongings, non-payment of staff entitlements, unauthorised bookings, and rental disputes have been wrongly attributed to our centre. We want to be clear: these matters do not relate to our operations. We operate independently and are deeply committed to ethical governance, transparent communication, and respectful care for both families and staff. We are grateful to the many families who have taken the time to understand the facts and recognise the integrity of our service. We understand how distressing those experiences must have been for those affected by Sunshine, but we want to assure you that they are not reflective of our values, practices, or community relationships. We welcome any opportunity to clarify and support our community. Please feel free to contact us directly if you would like to discuss further.
