I enrolled my two children at Grand Central Tarneit Guardian when the centre first opened in 2025 with high expectations. Unfortunately, as enrolments increased, the centre became increasingly chaotic, unsafe, and poorly managed. What followed was an unacceptable pattern of negligence, lack of supervision, and failure to meet even basic standards of care. There was constant staff turnover and inconsistency, which directly impacted my children’s engagement, wellbeing, and sense of security. Learning experiences were poorly run, and children were frequently disengaged. On multiple occasions, I arrived to find my daughter’s room in complete disarray, with children climbing furniture to look out into the carpark — a blatant supervision and safety failure. The centre also demonstrated a complete lack of organisation and accountability. My daughter lost five pairs of socks, and on three separate occasions her shoes were sent home with another family. These repeated incidents show a concerning disregard for basic routines and child management. Most alarmingly, my daughter was left unattended in the bathroom, a situation that is entirely unacceptable and represents a serious breach of duty of care. The most distressing and unforgivable incident occurred in December 2025, when my son sustained a serious injury. Another child was able to lift an A-frame piece of equipment while my son was on it, causing him to fall and cut his nose on the sharp corner of a wooden plank. This was a completely preventable incident and highlights a severe failure in supervision, risk assessment, and safe play practices. I then received a call from the centre manager, Tegan, who stated that the bleeding had stopped and that the injury did not require medical attention. It is unacceptable and reckless for someone without medical training to downplay an injury and provide such advice to a parent. When I was later sent a photo of my son’s injury, it was immediately obvious that urgent medical attention was required. I collected my son immediately and took him to the emergency department, where the cut to his nose was medically treated and glued together. He was in significant pain, and had I relied on the centre’s assessment that he was “okay,” my child would have been left to suffer unnecessarily. This centre repeatedly failed to provide a safe, well-supervised, and professionally run environment. The issues were not isolated incidents but a pattern of poor leadership, inadequate staffing, and unsafe practices. The only positive review is from the Chef Sandra who was always welcoming and greeting us on arrival and made delicious and nutritious food for the children. Given our experience, I strongly do not recommend Grand Central Tarneit Guardian. I urge families to carefully reconsider and seek other childcare options where children’s safety, supervision, and wellbeing are genuinely prioritised.
