Welcome to Guardian Childcare & Education Marsfield, formerly known as Acre Woods. Our newly refurbished centre is an exceptional early childhood and long day care facility located near Epping, North Epping, North Ryde, and Macquarie Park in Northern Sydney.

Guardian’s exclusive To BE Me program creates a unique learning adventure for every child. It demonstrates clearly how play connects to learning and development, offering families new insights and a lifelong record of these important years.

Nursery Rooms are our specialty. Our experienced Baby Ambassador and Nursery team take the time to really know your baby’s routines and personality, supporting them to feel safe and settled. Our Nursery rooms are calm, nurturing spaces that feel like a home away from home.

By focusing on Nutrition for Life, Guardian gives families peace of mind, knowing their children are developing habits that can set them up for a future of exposure to different foods, good eating patterns and healthy eating. Our qualified cook / chef provides 5 healthy foods every day from our in-house kitchen.

The NSW Government offers funding to subsidise the cost of preschool in long day care. For 3-year-old’s this is between $423-$769 and for 4-year-olds between $1,783-$2,563. This support is in addition to the Child Care Subsidy and can help to lower your out-of-pocket fees. Ask for more details when you tour the centre.

We were part of this childcare centre for three and half years, and during that time there were some truly wonderful educators. The teachers in the nursery room and toddler room are caring, dedicated, and genuinely invested in the children. The assistant manager is also amazing — approachable, supportive, and clearly passionate about her role and the families she works with. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end for us. Since Rachel took over as centre manager, communication with parents has been extremely poor. She is rarely visible, often stays in her office, and we have consistently felt unwelcome and not respected as parents. There is little engagement with families, and it has felt uncomfortable and difficult to approach her. What was most disappointing is that when we decided to withdraw our child, we were never contacted or asked for feedback. After three years of attending this centre, you would expect — especially from an educator — that there would be some interest in understanding why a child is leaving. We were also concerned about the preschool program. There appears to be very little focus on school readiness as part of the curriculum. Instead, children often spend five to six hours outdoors each day, with limited structured learning to prepare them for the transition to school. We are grateful for the educators who genuinely cared for our child, particularly in the nursery and toddler rooms, but overall the lack of leadership, communication, and respect from centre management ultimately led to our decision to leave.
