My heart is heavy as I share my son's unfortunate experience at Explorers, specifically in the Greenvale Dragonfly room. As a concerned parent, I feel compelled to express my disappointment in the hope that positive changes can be made. From the outset, the lack of empathy from the educators was palpable. Their behaviour was not only rude but also displayed a disheartening level of laziness. Despite the centre's stated indoor-outdoor policy, this was not adhered to. My son and his peers were callously forced outside during the cold winter without jackets, while educators engaged in personal conversations. One distressing incident remains etched in my memory. Upon arriving to pick up my son, we observed an educator blocking his access to the classroom, causing him to cry loudly in the cold. This happened around 3:30 p.m. When I inquired about my son during lunchtime over the phone, I was told he loves to play inside. It appears his preferences were known but disregarded, leaving him in distress. On another occasion, I was given false reassurance about my son's well-being. Despite specific instructions for him to play inside and wear his beanie due to his recent illness recovery, I discovered him in the sandpit with no jacket or beanie when I arrived at 1 p.m. Inconsistency among staff members further compounded the challenges. Many days, there were no familiar educators during drop-offs, impacting my son's sense of security. Equally concerning is the absence of a proper incident reporting system. When my son had a near-miss incident with a flower pot, verbal notification was provided, but there was no formal incident report. Despite bringing these to the attention of the management, no improvements or changes have been observed, with the same educators still working in the classrooms and following their usual behaviours. Only response from the management was "we will let the girls know" Even after six months of attendance, my son struggled to adjust to the childcare environment. The activities offered did not consider children's preferences, a significant factor contributing to his poor adjustment to the classroom. This review comes with a heavy heart, hoping that it sparks necessary changes to ensure the well-being and happiness of all children at Explorers. Every child deserves an environment that fosters growth and understanding, and I sincerely hope that improvements will be made for the sake of future attendees.
