About Ekidna - Dee Why School of Early Learning

At Ekidna Dee Why, we believe early childhood should feel just like home—a place where children feel genuinely known, deeply cared for, and free to explore at their own pace. From the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll experience a warm, family-focused environment designed to nurture children from infancy through to school age.

Our approach is grounded in respect, relationships, and the belief that children learn best when they feel safe, connected, and inspired. Each day at Ekidna is thoughtfully planned to honour children’s natural curiosity, providing endless opportunities to create, investigate, collaborate, and grow. Our educators are passionate, experienced, and committed to building strong partnerships with families, ensuring every child is supported as an individual.

Our beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces reflect our “just like home” philosophy—calm, welcoming, and intentionally designed with natural materials, cosy corners, and open-ended resources that invite children to imagine, build, and discover. Whether they are painting in our creative hubs, engaging in sensory play, exploring nature, or joining group projects, children enjoy a rich and varied curriculum that supports their development in meaningful ways.

Community connection is at the heart of our philosophy, we regularly collaborate with local groups, services, and families.

Nutritious food is another core part of the Ekidna experience. Our wholesome, seasonal menus are prepared onsite, offering children delicious meals that fuel play, learning, and wellbeing.

We warmly invite families to visit Ekidna Dee Why and see what makes our service so special. Our team would love to answer your questions, show you around our homelike spaces, and share how we can support your child’s early learning journey. At Ekidna Dee Why, you’ll find a place where your child can feel at home—every day.

We transferred our daughter from another local daycare to Ekidna and it has genuinely been the best decision! The staff are phenomenal and in over a year we haven’t seen any classroom leadership turnover. This has resulted in my daughters developing strong bonds with both the carers and the children at the centre. My youngest in nursery waves farewell and runs off to play 😅 they are always looking for parent feedback and ways to improve their programs, we have been thoroughly impressed. Although some neighbouring centres might have flashier equipment, it’s the carers that make the difference for the kids and the experience they have. Their open ended imaginative and messy play is top notch, and as they move to prep school readiness comes into play without dominating the kids getting to be kids. Highly recommend Ekidna for both little ones and prep aged kids
