My daughters journey at Edge Early Learning Strathpine began in 2021 when she had just turned 2 years old. From the moment we met Kate, we instantly felt comfortable and knew that we had made the right decision. She has developmental delays so when she started she was our bum shuffler who wasn't able to walk or stand on her own. Miss Jazzy, Miss Maddy, Miss Hayley, Miss Navi and numerous other educators took her under their wing and helped her daily, supporting her through this initial delay. They took our baby and made sure she was able to connect with educators and stayed safe. The following year she moved into Toddler 2 room with Miss Maddy moving with her. This is when she came under the care for the first time of the amazing Miss Ari. She formed a bond straight away with Miss Ari and of course Miss Maddy. This is where she started to thrive in her environment. After starting to walk at 27 mths old, she was full of fear and hesitation. So far off the ground now with those long legs, Miss Ari and Miss Maddy helped her build her confidence during the year and continued to nurture her, always there for a cuddle at drop off or when she had a fall or just because. So in 2023, she hit Kindy 1 room. Back with her beloved Miss Ari and the amazing Miss Jess, this was set to be the best year yet. To be honest, I think we had more fear at times then her of how she would fit into her new surroundings. At this stage she was not able to tackle most of the playground equipment due to her delay but mainly due to her fear of falling. This set her apart from her peers and started her questioning why she couldn't do things other kids did. But what a year this was - Miss Jess and Miss Ari provided a stable and nurturing environment where she went from strength to strength. Her friendships started to blossom and my favourite part of this year was watching her want to learn everything and being so proud when she did. Maybe she may have physically been behind but she learnt that it was OK and that strength comes in different forms. Throughout the last couple of years, she has also formed a very special bond with Miss Cass who was her 2nd mum. Always a cuddle to offer when sad or happy, giggles and also teaching her another way to be able to communicate through sign. Forever grateful Miss Cass! As we start the final journey with Edge, I have so many mixed emotions and there will truly be no words that could ever thank every single person that has been apart of this amazing journey of hers. I will miss our daily banter and feel like I am also saying goodbye to people that have become friends and important figures in my life. Thank you all for always having an ear to lend me to offer advice or really just a great daily laugh that always made my day better. We will miss our edge family but will continue to share her next amazing journey of starting big girl school in 2025. Thank you all for preparing her for this big step and know that you have all made a difference in our lives.
