Our two children used to attend here for vacation care. Their school also has vacation care facilities, but we wanted a different environment during December school holidays, so we chose this one because it is near their normal school and still within our route. However, it's always been one drama or the other. My last straw was last December when my son got bitten from the back by another boy. There was no way he would know this person was coming because he ran to him bit him without being provoked. The teachers did not call or text me when this happened, and to make it worse, they did not administer any first aid. The bite area had a visible mark (lip-shaped, red and swollen), yet they did nothing (not even simple paracetamol or an ice pack). When I got there in the afternoon to pick him up, they gave me a flimsy incident report form to sign without full details of what happened. I asked questions (spoke with the two teachers and the centre director) and got to know that the teachers witnessed this happen and for some reason could not STOP this boy. I was also told that this boy had displayed such a dangerous behaviour a couple of times recently. Now I understand that children will always be children and can do strange things (especially if there are health or mental issues involved) so I am not upset with the child. However, I would expect the teachers and management to know better and seek help for him until it is safe to have him with other kids. Above all, I expected them to inform me or administer first aid to soothe the pain and discomfort my son was suffering from the bite. YOU SHOULD NOT CONSIDER THIS CENTRE IF YOU WANT PEACE OF MIND ABOUT YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY.
