About C&K Salisbury Community Childcare Centre

Our Vision

Our specific intention is to aim to give every child the best start in life possible through reciprocal and respectful relationships in a centre that feels like a home away from home that is fun, unique and committed to nurturing the
development of the whole child.

Our Philosophy – What we believe

The educators at C&K Salisbury are dedicated to providing an environment that is safe, secure, fun, stimulating, caring, nurturing, loving and anti-bias.

We view our centre as a place where children and adults can live and learn together. We view each child as capable and competent learners, thinkers and enquirers, as unique individuals: having rights rather than simply needs.
We believe that very young children, in the presence of passionate and committed educators, are quite capable of engaging in education for sustainability and in ‘making a difference’; through this belief we advocate for sustainable nutrition practices and incorporating agricultural practices in the program and daily life of the centre.

Our belief in the environment as the third teacher acknowledges the importance of the environment in influencing relationships, interactions and learning. This includes relationships between people, people and materials, people and experiences and people and ideas.

We support cultural diversity and foster a culture of reflective practice to promote ongoing improvements. We believe that a play based learning program is essential to early childhood education, play is the way babies and children develop their sense of self, sense of the world and where they fit in.

Our emergent program led by C&K’s Building Waterfalls Curriculum is designed to reflect each individual child’s emerging interests and investigations whilst also being challenging and open to intentional and spontaneous experiences; resources are open ended, beautiful and interesting, the program is flexible directed by the children and guided by the educator.

We believe our role as educators is to educate and care for your child, the health and safety of all children is paramount to us as we help and watch them develop while respecting the uniqueness of your family values, religion and rich cultural identity. We believe that working in partnership with your family is integral to the care and education of your child and we invite all families to participate in the program.

The C&K curriculum ‘Building Waterfalls’ and The Early Years Learning Framework guide the program and are reflected within the environment, children’s learning portfolios and are at the heart of our relationships with the
children, families and the community. We incorporate the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Framework in all aspects of the centre. We are continually looking for ways as a centre to improve and understand that through this reflective process our philosophy; environment,
curriculum and knowledge will evolve and develop.

We are proud of our passionate staffing team; the educators are committed to the care and education of the children. Educators participate in research programs and are current and eager for knowledge about early years
learning, they regularly attend professional development workshops, conferences and work towards completing high levels of qualifications through College, TAFE and University for continual professional growth.

We show respect for children and their families through recognising that families are the child’s first and most influential teachers and we will endeavour to support families as they undertake this important role.

Management will ensure there is continuity of care and implement effective forms of communication. A thorough orientation process will occur for new families starting at our centre to ensure families can become familiar with our
centre and their child’s educators. We pride ourselves on our flexibility in supporting and creating opportunities for siblings to spend time together throughout the course of the day.

Our philosophy has been developed in consultation with staff and families and we welcome all ideas and suggestions.

C&K Salisbury would like to respectfully acknowledge and pay our respects to the traditional custodians of the land on which C&K Salisbury now stands. We would also like to acknowledge and pay our respects to elders both past and present.
