C&K Ripley Childcare Centre

We are new to the childcare system in Australia and had visited 4 other daycares before visiting this centre. The Manager Jody has to be one of the most condescending, non empathetic person I’d encountered thus far. The breakdown in communication, mis understanding (due to no clear communication) between myself, her staff and herself caused me to feel like I was breaking a law due to no CLEAR communication. Having witnessed and experienced Jody’s demeanour I can see why her staff were unable to communicate directly and clearly with myself on this “transitional” visit we were having, I don’t doubt the staff and their ability to care for your children but it is apparent Jody’s management style would be one that makes you not want to speak up if you disagree and just do as she says, having seen other centres and the warm, fun and exciting inviting environments you go in to this centre unfortunately does not portray this. After our mishap at the transitional visit the behaviour from Jody made me cancel our enrolment completely and find another centre last minute THANKFULLY we have. There were 3 occasions of communication breakdowns/misinformation in the span of 4 working days. 1. fees 2. How the transition play works 3. Enrolment information already provided and discussed thoroughly but not noted as Jody admitted she is very busy on Mondays. On top of my experience I want to note that while taking my child for the “stay & play” I witnessed a young boy around 4 who was not confident walking through the toddler room to get to his area, to which Jody says “are you feeling a bit of anxiety walking through this area” ….. using the word anxiety to a 4yr old did not sit well with me.. there is such a word as nervous or not feeling confident.. the fact our youth are coming through with much anxiety and depression I don’t believe we should be throwing those words around so lightly especially at that age.
