About Ganeinu - Gan Izzy
Ganeinu, pronounced ga-nay-nu is a community based early learning centre based in St Ives on Sydney's North Shore, established in the community since 2008. Initially located at 97 Killeaton Street, we are now established at 27 College Crescent, as part of Chabad North Shore.
In November 2020 we were awarded the rating of Exceeding the National Quality Standard for Education and Care, with our After School and Vacation Care service - Gan Izzy.
At Ganeinu, every family and child is warmly welcomed, regardless of cultural background. Jewish traditions and values are embedded into our educational program in a culturally diverse and inclusive “home away from home” environment where we connect and unite families of all backgrounds as a community.
We offer long hours (7:30 am – 6:00 pm) with flexible fee and care arrangements for working families, providing daycare and preschool for children from 2 months to 6 years.
We aim to maximise the future potential and opportunities for every child through our educational program, focussing on each child's physical, emotional and cognitive needs using a Whole Child approach.
We provide a safe and secure environment with automated front entry gates for vehicles, leading to on site parking for pick up and drop off.Secure pedestrian entry is also available from Link Road.
Depending upon health advice, Preschool children have opportunities to get out and about in the community with excursions planned to broaden their understanding of the world in which they live. Younger children benefit from Incursions, when we invite special visitors to share their skills, knowledge and experience to our centre.
Fresh, Kosher (Chalav Yisrael) vegetarian meals are cooked on site daily by our qualified chef. Our menus are regularly assessed by Munch and Move to ensure we cover all nutritional requirements.
We staff our service with highly qualified educators from the local area. We also accept students from various educational institutions on practicum, who are furthering their studies for a career in early childhood.

Our son attended Ganeinu Long Day Care from when he turned one in their 0-2yr room, then in their toddler room and finally in their Preschool program. The care he received, as well as the skill of the educators, has helped him develop socially, emotionally, mentally and physically. There is also a strong emphasis on respecting different cultures. We saw a total of 9 different day care centres and one thing that clearly stood out about Ganeinu was the high calibre of the staff, bit the educators and carers in the rooms, as well as the Director Jenny Hudson and the admin area. Our son had serious allergies and they were by far the ones who gave us the most comfort by how many precautions they took. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a day care centre in the Upper North Shore, especially for those parents who prefer a quiet unassuming centre with a focus on quality carers and educators over the many for-profit large chains with flashy facilities who only aim to meet the standards, not exceed them as this centre does.

Two years ago, when Louie first went to Ganeinu, he cried a lot because he didn’t want to be separated from with me. However, the teachers were patient and treated Louie with love, and as a result, Louie adapted very well and became very happy to go to Ganeinu. Over the past two years, Louie has made wonderful memories with good friends and great teachers. Now, he is attending kindergarten, but he always misses his teachers and friends. Thank you so much for giving him such wonderful memories.
