About KU Marcia Burgess Autism Specific Early Learning and Care Centre and KU Liverpool Preschool
The Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) is an evidence-based intervention specifically developed for children with autism aged between 12 – 60 months. It is a play-based intervention that fuses behavioural and developmental principles into an integrated approach. The Model is a Naturalistic Developmental Behavioural Intervention, and as such can be implemented across multiple settings, including the Specialist Child Care programs: ESDM Clinics and Preschool programs, if delivered by Certified ESDM therapists. It can also be delivered in the family home, by the child’s parents, simply within daily routines and play. Our KU MB ASELCC has implemented a variety of ESDM Programs across these multiple settings to address the needs of the many children and families on our wait list. We have opened up ESDM Clinics in Liverpool, Penrith and Hazelbrook and are currently adapting the ESDM to three of our Mainstream Preschools in Cobbitty, Airds and Macquarie Fields.

One word to describe this place is unethical. Centre charges ridiculous amounts for both NDIS and childcare fees per day. My child was taught nothing she already knew. Gave notice to withdraw and the principal Christina was very rude and confronting. They unjustly tried to bully me into signing a “new agreement” after I had given notice so that they could debit my childs NDIS money before we left. Money hungry or helping autistic families achieve goals???? Took my child there on the last day and was dismissed saying the last day of care was a week ago. Christina acknowledged she had made a mistake after bringing the email to her attention with no remorse what so ever. Seriously?...So that means I was legally entitled to care that was paid for when i was dismissed to leave by the principal. It took over a month to receive my bond back after making over 10 calls and getting a third party involved. Stay away from this centre! It has given me nothing other than stress and anxiety. Shocked and disappointed that people like this exist with such inhumane behaviour.

The staff at ASELCC are the most wonderful group of educators you will meet. The director is wonderful, the family co-coordinator is awesome, admin is lovely, they are all just great – all of them! They are so patient with the children. I have watched them on numerous occasions handling meltdowns with respect and integrity both to the centre and the child. The centre follow ESDM, which does wonders during EI.
